Do you know of Christchurch babies needing a pepi-pod? We are working with Change for our Children to supply 1000 pepi-pods to earthquake babies in Christchurch at risk from unsafe sleeping arrangements. Currently we have 100 base containers and fitted mattresses and are calling for support from around the country to make covers and bedding sets. THe items are now coming in and we are read to supply to babies at risk.,WE have even started to receive referrals and have delivered our first pepi-pods. How to match priority babies to a pepi-pod Babies most at risk from unsafe sleep are those who were exposed to smoking during pregnancy. These will be allocated pepi-pods first. Also, elligible are babies born prematurely, babies of birthweights less then 2500 grams, babies who are not breastfed, and babies who are under 4 months of age. Babies exposed to this package of factors are our priority for pepi-pods. If you want to get a pepi-pod for a baby you know, here's what to do:
What will we do with your referral? We will develop a list of babies needing a pepi-pod, prioritise by risk factors and deliver a pepi-pod as they become available to us. Smokechange kaiarahi will provide a thorough safe sleep briefing and discuss all safe sleep concerns with families. Our team will assist parents to create safe environments during these difficult times for families. |
