We believe in people.

We are inspired by the possibility of a world where every child has a smokefree start to life. And we are on a mission to make this a reality, starting with New Zealand.

Our story began in Christchurch in the 1990s as a response to the high rates of sudden infant deaths in New Zealand, with smoking a major risk factor. Formative work led to a funded study, then community support for the transition to our services and from July 2000, it became two health-funded services provided by Change for our Children (formally Education for Change).

Our two programmes have returned consistent results over eight years. Both services are now provided by Smokechange Ltd, an autonomous social profit organisation (SPO) whose sole purpose is to profit society by way of pursuing  a smokefree start to life for every child.
